DomainFest 2010 – What a fest!

DomainFest is not only one of our industry’s spotlight events, but it is also one of my personal favorites that I always look forward to attending. I just returned home from another amazing DomainFest conference at the Fairmont in Santa Monica, California.  A huge congratulations goes out to our good friends at Oversee.net for hosting another fantastic event.

After seeing and hearing Steve Wozniak give the Key-Note address a year earlier, I thought the organizers would be hard pressed to top DomainFest 2009.  But guess what?  They did it again.  Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com, one of the most successful business innovators in the new online economy, was a fantastic Key-Note.  The additional sessions were great and all the familiar as well as the new faces really made the event special.

Going to DomainFest is a MUST in my books.  My colleagues and I at HEXONET are already looking forward next year.

Fair and Simple Pricing Without the Gimmicks

With the end of the year fast approaching, my annual ritual of reviewing the past 12 months and looking forward to the year ahead has started in earnest.  Not unlike most people, some of my failures and New Year fixes revolve around my waist size.  This past year can be summarized as winning the small battles, but losing the war.

With renewed vigor, I plan to fight again in 2010, but with one major change.  This year, my strategy to fight the bulge starts with making weight loss simple and straightforward.  Enough with diet books, special meal programs, boot camps, or infomercials, which often result in some sort of gimmick or untruth.  Simple, truthful, and straightforward is the plan.

So why start this blog entry with my belt size? The reason is that many gimmicks and ploys also plague the domain industry as well.  For instance, how can some domain companies set their REGULAR price for a particular domain below known registry prices?  One better get ready for a litany of restrictions, constant up-selling, unwanted and invasive advertising, reduction of support, or other problems when choosing such a company – buyer beware.

Like my diet plan, HEXONET’s philosophy of doing business is to make domains simple, truthful, and straightforward.  Where domains are offered with no restrictions, full support, abundance of features, no advertising, no up-selling, and at great prices, some at industry leading rates.  HEXONET can do this through ultra high efficiency and mass volume, where every penny saved is shared with our customers.

HEXONET publicly posts domain prices because we know we have highly competitive prices.  Also, we offer free registration and use of our system, because we have nothing to hide, our systems are that good.  HEXONET and our customers succeed because we keep things simple, truthful, and straightforward – hopefully my weight loss will also!

Being Better than Lowest Price

Over my lifetime I have certainly wasted my fair share of money. From buying a HD DVD player (no longer supported) to cheaping out on a no-name car charger that nearly destroyed my iphone, the folly of chasing a good price often leads to a serious case of buyers remorse. That is because lowest price more often than not doesn’t equate to value, but in fact, typically equates to little or no value.

This axiom holds even more true for the domain industry and especially true when it relates to domain reseller system providers. Domains are the quintessential virtual product, even more virtual (or abstract) than say an email service or hosting. Unlike server applications, domains are as basic as protocols and data base entries at the core. Marry this technical simplicity, with the knowledge that domains are respectively sourced and tightly controlled by single monopolistic entities that ensure price fairness amongst registrars, and it becomes clear that “value” is not measured by price, but on the reliability, flexibility, scalability, and performance of the underlying registration technology.

Lowest Price Verses Best Performance:

Since the floor cost from any particular registry is generally equal, it is easy to see who is investing money into infrastructure and who is not. Speed and performance requires newer and growing systems, as well as, investments into engineering. Thus, the best VALUE amongst Reseller Platform Providers like HEXONET, should be the one that has the best performance per price ratio.

HEXONET publicly posts domain prices because we not only have highly competitive prices, but we also want people to intuitively see that we provide top performance per price. Go to our price page here, then go do a domain search on our home page. From my experience, HEXONET is providing industry leading performance for price – the true VALUE for domain resellers looking for the best wholesale domain provider.
